God is Bigger.

It’s been quite awhile since I have posted on my blog. Between school, work, ministry, and my family I have found it difficult to find a god chunk of time to just sit down and write something. But today I did!

A thought that has been on my mind a lot over the past few weeks has been perseverance. The season of life that I am in right now has been extremely challenging as far as time management and investing the proper amount of time into each area of my life. I do realize that this is a season that I am in, and that the pace that I am going at right now is not sustainable and will need to be altered very soon. But during this season I have experienced some very difficult moments where I have been very tired, and very overwhelmed by the tasks I have ahead of me.

Something that has got me through these tough times, and that I hope will help anyone who reads this, is dwelling on how big God is. The times that I feel most stressed, and most overwhelmed, are when I let situations of my life take my eyes off of God, and I focus on  myself as the source that I get my sustenance from. But when I re-focus on God and how big He is, my confidence that I can keep going grows and helps get me through.

For confidence to be anything other than arrogance it has to be in something that legitimately deserves our confidence. It took me till I was probably 23 to realize that any confidence in my own abilities was nothing more than arrogance, and was entirely incapable of giving me victory in different struggles I was facing. I had to accept the fact that I was incapable of changing my own heart, and I accepted the truth that the Bible teaches, that God can change my heart.  And He can change yours as well!

But God wants relationship with us, and so He sets before us a journey of struggles that teach us to go to Him and spend time getting to know Him. As we grow in relationship with Him He gives us new desires in place of the old sinful ones, it’s amazing!!!

I encourage whoever is reading this, if you are going through a difficult season of life right now. If you are stressed and wondering if you can keep going. Spend more time getting to know God on a personal level. Spend more time meditating on who God is, and how Big He is! Let God reveal His love for you, to you. Let Him win your confidence from yourself, to Himself. And as His love invades the deepest parts of your heart, it will expel all the fear in your life and you will grow in confidence and will be able to persevere.

Why do we love each other? Because He loved us first! (1 John 4:19)

What is real love? Us loving God? NO!

This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.(1 John 4:10)

My prayer for you, is that you would experience God’s love for you through spending time in prayer and reading His word, allowing Him to speak to you!
